It is a popular misunderstanding that the eternity of God is an “infinite duration,” conceptualized as an infinite series of ever-vanishing moments. But this is, in fact, the eternity of hell as the infinite division of the self-negating now that cannot move towards the genuinely other. The eternity of God is, rather, a “Now” in the fullest sense, one that is wholly complete as perfect communion, not subject to change or negation.
