In my recent video Philosophy: The Handmaiden of Theology, I mention that faith is necessary to know the Truth. While I’m happy with the video overall, I am writing this to clarify that when I say “Truth,” I am not talking about the mere ideas of the Trinity and the Incarnation (which I mentioned as being the two most essential theological truths). While I think it is historically true that the Trinity would not have been discovered without Christ’s earthly ministry, and obviously, the Incarnation would not be known if it never happened, the more fundamental point I wished to make in my video was that the highest form of knowledge is not intellectual, but consists of the experience of God as infinite person.
